Una Poca Loca

LOCS!!!!

This page is about my loc journey. I decided it would be easier to add a page on my own blog than start and maintain a whole new blog about hair. Right? Of course I’m right!

So August 29th, 2009, I decided to go natural. Relaxers and Wraps and touch ups just became frustrating to me. So I told my mom I wanted to go natural. I got box braids that day and kept until the beginning of November. A few months and several transitional styles later, on March 29th, 2010, I cut off all my permed ends and became fully natural. I rocked ‘fros, braids, twists until November. For a few weeks before that i had a loc obsession. Loc styles, how to start locs, loc products, loc journeys: I was researching it all. I was a bit afraid of the commitment. I told my mom what I thought. “Locs seem like a lot of work,” I said to her as she was braiding my hair one day. she responded, “Well, this is a lot of work.” as she tugged on my loose hair. And well, that sealed the deal. I wanted locs, and I asked my mother and she said over christmas break, she would take me to a loctitian and start my locs. With further research I realized that i didn’t neeed a loctitian; we could start them on our own! My mother put my hair in little twists, and on November 20th, my baby locs were born and thus began my journey! =)
